ARCS

The Access Risk Classification System is a computer algorithm that
uses health insurance claims data to classify people into one of four
categories.  The categories range from "no access risk" to "substantial
access risk."

The algorithm can be used to:
  • Identify people who are likely to have a disability and should be
contacted about completing surveys relating to disability.
  • Identify people who are likely to benefit from having a nurse care
    coordinator.
  • Identify people who are likely to need extra help or health system
procedural shortcuts to get care quickly when they need it
    (disability competent care).
